IREF Protests for the Restoration of OPS

A massive protest was organized on March 30 at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, by the Indian Railway Employees Federation (IREF), affiliated to AICCTU, and the Front Against NPS in Railways (FANPSR), demanding the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) and against the New Pension Scheme (NPS) and the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS). A gathering of hundreds of protesting railway employees was addressed by Sudama Prasad, Member of Parliament and member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways, and Rajiv Dimri, the all India General Secretary of AICCTU.

RAILWAYS UNION ELECTIONS: AICCTU- IREF Achieves a Significant Success

Election for the recognition of trade unions in Indian Railways was held on 4, 5 and 6 December 2024 via Secret Ballot. This election was scheduled to be held in the year of 2019, but at last Railway Administration was compelled to hold the election at the order of Delhi High Court. Election was held at Zonal levels. This election was held at 17 zones including Metro Railway Kolkata and two Production Units at RCF, Kapurthala and CLW, Chittaranjan.

National Monetisation Pipeline Dismantling Indian Railways

In 2014, the Modi-led BJP government decided to dissolve the Planning Commission (which was constituted in 1951 along the lines of a socialist model of centralised planning) along with the National Development Council formed to monitor the development of sectors like agriculture, education, health and also national transport systems like Railways, Roadways and Airways. Finally, on the conclusion of the 12th Five Year Plan in 2017, the Planning Commission was dissolved and was replaced by the NITI Ayog (National Institution of Transforming India).
