As part of the present government’s attempts to dilute all existing legal rights of the working class and clear the path for employers to refuse workers their legal rights, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has proposed major changes in the enforcement mechanism of EPF.
The representatives of the Joint Action Committee of All Central Trade Unions and Independent Federations of Tamil Nadu submitted a memorandum to express serious concerns regarding the functioning of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) and the current status of pension disbursal under the EPS-95 scheme.
A massive protest was organized on March 30 at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, by the Indian Railway Employees Federation (IREF), affiliated to AICCTU, and the Front Against NPS in Railways (FANPSR), demanding the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) and against the New Pension Scheme (NPS) and the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS). A gathering of hundreds of protesting railway employees was addressed by Sudama Prasad, Member of Parliament and member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways, and Rajiv Dimri, the all India General Secretary of AICCTU.
