जेएनयू में छात्र संघ का चुनाव उस वक्त हुआ है जब जेएनयू और देश भर के अन्य विश्वविद्यालयों के खिलाफ अभूतपूर्व हमले किए जा रहे हैं. शोध व अन्य कार्यक्रमों में सीटों में कटौती करके और फीस में भारी वृद्धि कर सस्ती व गुणवत्तापूर्ण शिक्षा तक गरीब छात्रों की पहुंच को सीमित किया जा रहा है. इसके साथ ही, पाठ्यक्रमों में संशोधन और विभिन्न संस्थानों में संघ के करीबी लोगों की नियुक्ति के जरिये शिक्षा का भगवाकरण करने के निरंतर प्रयास किए जा रहे हैं.

AICCTU March in Delhi’s Wazirpur Industrial Area

On 9 September, AICCTU organized a rally in the Wazirpur Industrial area against the attack on workers and the hooliganism of the employers. On 8 September, a worker was severely beaten by a factory owner and his goons in B66/2 Wazirpur Industrial Area. He was thrown out of the factory and left bleeding. AICCTU Protest Against Sewer Deaths In Delhi

All India Central Council of Trade Unions (AICCTU) and CPI(ML) held a protest on 22 August at Jantar Mantar, Delhi, against death of sanitation workers inside sewers in national capital. In a span of 35 days ten workers have died inside sewers despite ‘hazardous cleaning’ being illegal as per the provisions of ‘The Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and Their Rehabilitation Act, 2013’. It is very unfortunate that the waste generated by a huge urban population is handled in most unscientific and inhuman ways.

Delhi AICCTU holds State Conference

AICCTU Delhi unit organized its 7th state conference on 5 August 2017 in Girinagar labour auditorium in Delhi which had been renamed Com. Swapan Mukherjee Hall for the conference. Workers from across Delhi and its neighbouring areas participated in the conference. Workers from DTC, MTNL, JNU, ASHA workers, construction workers, domestic workers, rail and roadway workers along with several others registered their participation in the conference. Workers from industrial areas of Delhi including Wazirpur and Okhla were also present.
